Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, all doctor appointments, in the first instance, will be booked as a telephone consultation (unfortunately we are unable to provide an exact time of when the doctor will call). Once the doctor has discussed the concerns raised, a decision will be made regarding whether or not a face to face appointment is necessary. If so, it will be booked during the telephone consultation. Most face to face appointments are currently being booked in the afternoon.
Please do not come into the surgery unless it has been agreed with your doctor.
Nurses are available only to attend to essential issues and only when pre-booked.
Appointments are not available to book online until further notice.
Thank you for your understanding
Doctors hold surgeries at both Rickmansworth and Chorleywood throughout the week, offering full services at both locations.
Face to face and telephone consultations with the doctors are by appointment only and can be made online (see online services) or by calling the surgery. As the surgery is becoming increasingly busy, we would strongly encourage you to utilise online services as often as possible for all routine issues. Should you need to be seen urgently, you can call the surgery and book an appointment to be seen the same day; otherwise you will be offered the first available routine appointment. If you request an urgent appointment, you will be offered a five minute emergency appointment and the doctor will only be able to deal with an urgent medical problem requiring immediate attention. If you wish to raise any other matter with the doctor you will need to book a routine appointment. Overseas visitors can be seen by appointment.
Our lines are open from 08:00 until 13:00 and again from 14:00 to 18:15, Monday to Friday (Rickmansworth). They can be very busy in the early morning, so for non-urgent matters we suggest ringing later in the day. To find out results of tests, please ring after 14:00. Should you wish to speak to the doctor, you will need to make an appointment for a telephone consultation. Please note however that it may not always be possible to receive a call from the doctor on the day you make the request.
When being examined by the doctor some patients feel more comfortable with a chaperone. If you wish a chaperone to be present during an examination, please tell the receptionist so that this can be arranged. The doctor may also offer this service if an intimate examination is necessary. Due to low staffing numbers at our Chorleywood surgery, this may not always be possible which may result in the examination being re-scheduled. If a chaperone is used they would be required to watch the examination.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
